  • String cheese: 16 oz
  • Eggs: 4
  • Milk: ¼ cup
  • Doritos: 3 cups, finely crushed
  • Cooking oil
  • Marinara sauce: For serving purposes

  • Take a blender and crush the Doritos until they look like breadcrumbs. Pour these crumbs out into a dish.
  • In a separate dish, add eggs and mix with milk. Use a whisk to combine these two ingredients together.
  • Using a cast-iron skillet, heat some oil till it reaches 365 degrees.
  • Start dipping the string cheese into the egg mixture. Using a fork, turn it around so that it coats evenly.
  • Dip the cheese in Doritos and again, use a fork to coat evenly.
  • Put the string cheese in the hot oil in small batches. Cook each batch for 45 seconds. You need to be careful that the cheese does not fall apart or ooze out. Instead, you only need to cook the cheese till the crust becomes light brown in color. Since cheese melts quickly, cook one and check to ensure that they do not get overcooked.
  • Take the string cheese out on a wire rack and keep them there to cool.
  • Serve them when they are still warm with some slightly warm marinara sauce.

3. Deep-Fried Cheese Curds Using Beer Batter

  • Cheese curds: 1 pound
  • Flour: 1 cup
  • Beer: 1 cup
  • Egg: 1, beaten
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Table salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Oil: To deep fry

  • Heat some oil in a big skillet till it reaches 400 degrees. You must ensure that there is sufficient oil in the skillet so that it completely covers the curds.
  • Take a bowl and mix together baking powder, flour, and salt.

  • If you are not sure, test fry a cheese curd and see how it turns out.
  • Put one batch of cheese curds into the batter and use a fork to coat them evenly. Use a spider spoon to take them out of the batter and into the hot oil.
  • Allow the curds to deep fry for a minute. Another sign to tell that they are done is by checking till they turn golden brown. Then, lay the cheese curds down on paper towels that can absorb all the extra oil.
